Laser 2000

Fibre Lasers & Amplifiers

Fibre lasers and amplifiers at 1 µm, 1.5 µm & 2 µm wavelengths.
From picosecond (ps) pulses to continuous wave (cw) outputs.
Fibre-Lasers-and-Amplifiers

Fibre lasers and amplifiers over come the modest gain and pump absorption per unit length of the rare earth ions found in solid-state bulk lasers, due to their long length and small effective mode area. This geometry provides a high photon conversion efficiency, high beam quality as well as providing a rugged compact, alignment free design.

Fibre amplifiers provide single pass amplification and can be turned into a laser with the addition of gratings to form an optical resonator, which can be further amplified in a master-oscillator power-amplifier (MOPA) configuration. These lasers can be CW, QCW and short pulsed with single frequency and polarisation maintaining options.

The primary dopants of the silica glass fibre core are ytterbium, erbium and thulium, with output bandwidths 1030-1080nm, 1530-1620nm and 1750-2100nm respectively.

Key Applications:

Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR)
Coherent LiDAR
Wind Measurement
3D Scanning
Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS)
Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS)
Autonomous Driving
